Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Asake, has achieved an impressive milestone by selling out London’s iconic O2 Arena for the second time. This feat solidifies his position as one of Africa’s leading music exports.
Asake’s achievement further cements the growing global demand for Afrobeats and the increasing recognition of Nigerian artists. It also serves as an inspiration for emerging artists.
Meanwhile, the feat comes with its economic benefits as sold-out shows generate significant revenue. There is also the cultural exchange aspect as Afrobeats continues to bridge cultural gaps between Africa and the world.
Before now, other Nigerian artists have sold out the O2 Arena, including Wizkid (2018, 2022), Davido (2019), Burna Boy (2019, 2022), and Tiwa Savage (2022).
Worthy of mentions also are Mr. Eazi (sold out O2 Arena in 2019, but as part of his “Life is Eazi” festival) and Kizz Daniel (sold out O2 Arena in 2022, but as part of his “Afro Classic” tour).
Asake’s debut album “Mr. Money with the Vibe” (2022) topped charts globally. He has had collaborations with top artists, including Burna Boy and Olamide. He has also had Mñmultiple award nominations, including Headies and Afrima.
What’s next for Asake?
